I am a beginner grower and I found this link on our beginner web site for GCOS . This is a wonderful sight. I have some Phals. That I bought at a store that have manes on them and some that don't . I'm looking forward to finding where my hybrids came from.

I have a Phalaenopsis and on the spikes where the blooms were . I now have leaves. What do I do ? cut the spikes and try to plant the leave? or what . The large leaves at the bottom do not look healthy they are drying out and curling like it not getting enough water. any suggestion?/

Admin reply: Hi Evelyn,
No, just let the leaves on the spike. What you have is what is call a keiki (baby). Soon or later roots will grow and you will have a new plant. Once the roots long enough you just have to separate the baby from the mother spike and put the new plant in a new pot. ;)

As for the leaves not healthy, give a look to the roots in the pot and repot the plant is you have mold in place of a good orchid medium. On the other side, if the medium is too dry, you will have to water your plant more often.
